Jungsik Is New York’s First New Three-Starred Michelin Restaurant in 12 Years
Synopsis:
The 2024 Michelin Guide ceremony for New York, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. took place in Hell's Kitchen, New York, where Jungsik Yim’s Korean fine-dining restaurant Jungsik earned its third Michelin star, making it the first Korean restaurant in the U.S. to achieve this distinction. The event also recognized several industry professionals, including Suwincha “ChaCha” Singsuwan for exceptional cocktails, and Joseph Rhee as the Young Chef of the Year. Other notable awards included the Michelin Green Star for sustainability, which went to One White Street.
In addition to Jungsik, four other New York restaurants retained their three-star status: Eleven Madison Park, Le Bernardin, Masa, and Per Se. The two-star category welcomed new additions like César and Sushi Sho. The one-star category saw eight new entries, including Bar Miller, Cafe Boulud, and Joo Ok. New Bib Gourmands recognized eateries offering quality food at moderate prices, such as Bayon, Bungalow, and Coqodaq.
This year’s guide features 385 restaurants representing over 60 types of cuisine. Michelin’s criteria range from one-star (“high-quality cooking”) to three-stars (“exceptional cuisine”), with Bib Gourmands highlighting affordable yet high-quality dining experiences.
