COVER PRIVACY POLICY

Last Updated: October, 16, 2024

This Privacy Policy describes how Cover, Inc. and our subsidiaries and affiliated companies (collectively, “Cover,” “we,” or “us”) collect, use, disclose and otherwise process information about you. This Privacy Policy applies to information we collect when you access or use our website, mobile applications, and other online products and services that link to this Privacy Policy (collectively, our “Services”), and when you otherwise interact with us, such as through our customer support channels or on social media. We may provide different or additional notices of our privacy practices for certain offerings or activities, in which case those notices will supplement or replace the disclosures in this Privacy Policy.

We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will notify you by revising the date at the top of this policy. If we make material changes, we will provide you with additional notice (such as by adding a statement to the Services or sending you a notification). We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy regularly to stay informed about our information practices and the choices available to you.

COLLECTION OF INFORMATION

The information we collect about you depends on how you use our Services or otherwise interact with us. In this section, we describe the categories of information we collect and the sources of this information.

Information You Provide to Us

We collect information you provide directly to us. For example, we collect information directly from you when you create an account, make a purchase, fill out a form, submit or post content through our Services (including reviews, recipes, articles, and other user-generated content), communicate with us via third-party platforms, participate in a contest, sweepstakes, or promotion, sign up for marketing communications from us, request customer support, or otherwise communicate with us. The types of information that we collect directly from you include your name, email address, company name, user type (such as whether you are a Chef, Pastry Chef, Mixologist, Restaurateur, Culinary Curious, Influencer, or Supplier), location (such as your city and state), links to your website or social media accounts, pictures (such as pictures of you or related to the content you provide), employment history, and any other information you choose to provide in your profile or in other content. If you make a purchase from us, we work with a third-party payment processor to collect and process your payment information.

Information We Collect Automatically

We automatically collect certain information about your interactions with us or our Services, including:

  • Transactional Information: When you make a purchase, we collect information about the transaction, such as subscription level purchased, subscription price, and the date and location of the transaction.
  • Device, Usage, and Activity Information: We collect information about how you access our Services, including data about the device and network you use, such as your hardware model, operating system version, mobile network, IP address, unique device identifiers, browser type, and app version. We also collect information about your activity on our Services, such as the route by which you access our Services, access dates and times, browsing behavior (such as pages viewed and links clicked), and activity history (such as which recipes you have created, viewed, and subscribed to, and any articles that you have posted or viewed).
  • Chat Content: If you contact customer service through our chat feature or by phone, we may monitor and retain those conversations, including for training purposes.
  • Information Collected by Cookies and Similar Tracking Technologies: We use tracking technologies, such as cookies and SDKs, to collect information about your interactions with the Services. You can learn more about cookies below.

Information We Derive

We may derive information or draw inferences about you based on the information we collect. For example, we may make inferences about your approximate location based on your IP address or infer that you are looking to subscribe to certain recipes based on your browsing behavior and past purchases.

COOKIES

Like most companies, we use cookies and similar technologies in our Services. The technologies we use include the following:

  • Cookies, which are small data files stored on your browser or device.
  • SDKs, or software development kits, which are software packages containing tools that help build mobile apps and introduce new features or functionality.
  • Chat Content: If you contact customer service through our chat feature or by phone, we may monitor and retain those conversations, including for training purposes.

We refer to these technologies collectively as “cookies.” You can find information about cookies and how they work at www.allaboutcookies.org.

First-Party and Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies are referred to as “first-party,” which means they are placed by the website you are visiting or the app you are using – so in our case, first party cookies and pixels are placed by our Services. “Third-party” cookies are placed by other organizations (with our permission) via our Services. They work by collecting information from your device and passing it directly back to the third party.

How Do We Use Cookies?

We use cookies for a number of reasons, like maintaining a visitor’s session and keeping our Services secure. The cookies we use are essential cookies, which are required for the operation of our Services. They include, for example, cookies that enable you to log into secure areas or make purchases. We use SDKS for analytics to measure and analyze performance and improve our Services. The information collected through SDKs is anonymized. See the Your Privacy Choices section for information about the choices available to you.
